What a find. True authentic dining at its best. The owner gave us an interesting chat about the history of the building. All the staff were very kind and accommodating despite our lack of speaking Italian. Excellent food and service. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for authentic Italian hospitality and food. We even sampled the limoncello from Sorrento. Bueno !!

If you’re looking for a romantic and authentic Florentine dinner in a setting filled with charm, history, and warmth — Ristorante Buca San Lorenzo is it. Tucked beneath the bustling heart of Florence, this hidden gem offers more than just a meal. From the moment we sat down, we were swept into a world of old-world elegance and heartfelt hospitality. The vaulted brick ceilings, shelves filled with antiques, and soft candlelight created the perfect ambiance for a truly unforgettable night. We were welcomed by the owner with two glasses of Prosecco. The atmosphere was intimate and filled with the scent of Tuscan cuisine. We began with a classic wild boar ragù. The pasta was silky, the sauce deep and rich with flavor, and the portion generous. It tasted like a family recipe passed down for generations — a true taste of Florence. For our second course, we had the grilled steak with golden roasted potatoes. Perfectly seared and seasoned, the steak melted in the mouth and paired beautifully with a glass of Chianti — robust, smooth, and expertly recommended by the owner. And then came one of the highlights: the apple cake (made by the owner’s wife). It was lightly dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with a berry sauce. Completely delicious! Buca San Lorenzo isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a built into the historic cellars of the San Lorenzo area, and steeped in Renaissance history. Between courses, the owner showed us the ancient wooden doors — over 300 years old — hiding their wine cellar, an incredible nod to the building’s centuries-old history. Dining at Buca San Lorenzo feels like being welcomed into someone’s beautifully curated home. Every detail, from the candlelight to the Chianti, tells a story. It was one of the most memorable meals we’ve ever had — and we’d return in a heartbeat!

One of the best meals we’ve had our trip so far. The prices were incredibly reasonable and the service was beyond excellent. This is authentic Italian food and we could not have been happier with our experience. The restaurant itself felt so charming with the decorations and atmosphere. It even was one of the few restaurants we’ve been to that actually has played Italian music while we were eating which was so refreshing. I just wish my stomach was bigger so I could’ve eaten even more.

After previewing many busy restaurants in Florence we decided to eat at Boca San Lorenzo. The woman at the street was very gracious and warmly invited us to dine. We were led downstairs to a beautiful Tuscan style dining room, in a very private setting. we ordered the Carbonera , risotto and a beef dish with a mixed salad. Everything was excellently prepared, very tasty and reasonably priced. We topped everything off with two beautiful glasses of Pinot Grigio. Would highly recommend Buca San Lorenzo

We finally found this place in Florence at the end of our trip. We were burnt out with overpriced restaurants that had horrible food and terrible service. We had been excited for the food in Italy, and had been disappointed until we found this place. It's quiet, they have amazing service, and are a good price. Even their specials are amazing! I would recommend coming back the next day to try a different dish! Make sure you go your first day in Florance and you won't go anywhere else.
